Been a year since you passed, and I miss you more each day,
Everything reminds me of you, what people do and what they say.
You were taken from us, long before your time,
The victim of a pointless and horrible crime.
The man who decided to have just one more that night,
Is now behind bars, which is just and right.
It doesn’t fill the hole, that you left in our lives,
But your memory lasts, your spirit survives.
When the times are dark, and my feelings are low,
I can feel you with me, and you ease my woe.
I know you’re still around, that you watch over us all,
When we’re in pain, you answer the call.
You’re gone, but not forgotten; remembered in every way,
Loved more than you know, missed every single day.
You support our lives, guide us through what must be,
On life’s long journey, I feel you walk beside me

Beyond the beauty of the piece the underlying hurt of destruction wrought by the senselessness of "one too many" is emphasized by the loss of a cherished reason fer livin'. Number 10 here. Kudos'
