ah, she blooms
that bitter beauty rose
such elegant grace
each petal so red
perfect and in place
the bees all clamour
for her sweet nectar
and for her pollen they would chase
but the spring of her beauty
faded to her incredulity
until she was but a bare stem
so old and harmless she looked
but beware that roses scorn
for a great beauty once born
may lose her petals but not
her thorn
