The Door To Destiny
He stood - - remarkable since confined to bed was he - -
And taking stock - - moved toward the light glowing bright
In the dark. Uncertain of step - - he looked around - -
How strange - - all had changed and nothing was in its place
Looking back toward the bed - - he made out a face - -
Heavy lined with skin of parchment. Turning - - no sound
Met his ears and to the light he made. What strange night
Was this? A door - - how so? There should not a door be
Opening now - - and the light ever brighter - - round
He turned but moved not the spectral sleeper - - so
Forward with awkward step - - entering the brightness
Behind him closed the door for good - - and on the bed
The figure still moved not. What strange magic here?
The face looked up - -quite blind - -quite dead - - for it was he
