Dalliance
Down into the pit of hell
I do descend ever quick
And ever slippery so...
Pain bursts from my mind
Pervading my whole being
Spurned - - deserted am I
Lost and lonely - - for she
Has left me for another
Untimely and ungodly be
This act of shame by her
Hands knot with rage - - scream
And shout and ululate - - but
Nothing would calm this soul
Inconsolable me – grief-stricken
Wretched rag of poor humanity
Warn you will I of woman sly - -
Who takes your very soul and
Heart - - but to rip it from thy
Heaving chest. Malodorous
Female - - beware her treachery
While in your sleep so does she
In dalliance play - - afoot with
Every gadabout or lusty lad
Come cut the heart from my
Chest - - for I would feel it not

A daring feat (accomplished). Vibrant verse. The truth shivers. Here. Rage. Anguish. A sweeping story. Ingenious finale. Bravo! --David |
