As she sat beneath the leaves,
Reading my poems
In the warm autumn shade,
I heard her breath catch
And her soft voice
Whisper of the beauty in the words.
Softly, softly she went her way
And I began my ramble through
Words and wreck and war
But that moment, as the autumn sun
Drifted through the golden leaves,
Was when I found my words
Might gently touch the soul

A period from 1965 to 1980 I lost all of my collected poetry to jealousies, anger 'n' revenge. Your piece written "50 years ago" made me reminisce the loss I experience of catchin' the moments of romance that now are just memories. Very nice capture.
