Why I Write

Contributed by angelus8663 on Saturday, 17th December 2011 @ 05:45:52 PM in AEST
Topic: poets

I sit here and write, pretty much every night,
I can’t help myself, try as I might,
Words fill my head, Rhymes in my mind,
I’m compelled to search them, to see what I find.

I put them on paper, and out on the web,
All my emotions, every flow and ebb.
I need to share these things, or I may just explode,
It helps me to feel better, to lighten my load.

I’m a bottled up person, coiled to spring,
Unfortunately I can’t dance, act or sing.
But I’m lucky that my passion, my gift,
Is to try and touch someone, to bridge this great rift.

This is why I write, and spread my work with the world,
My feelings inspected, my emotions unfurled.
Some people might like it, some people might not,
But it’s good for me and it’s all that I’ve got.

Allow me to join your ranks! Your words mirrored my feelings about poetry. I write to let the demons and my emotions out, to let the stress fade away. You put into words the feelings that poetry give to me. Thank you. Great write! Keep on writting, sharing your gift.

I feel much the same. There was a period when the words flowed like tears but as I've grown into old man age they come as a rill and not a river. But they still dance behind eyes.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
