Sunset Serenade
Wistfully I take your hand
Transported to a different land
Of childhood dreams and simple schemes
Where nothing’s really as it seems
My mind is blank like virgin snow.
I stare into your eyes so deep
So beautiful that should they weep
The rain falls down from up above
While all surround you with their love
To comfort you and keep you safe.
I know I’m blessed and it must show
My darling you must surely know
That should your time before me fall
I will break down and loudly call
The angels forth to tend your soul.
You smile and touch my shining face
My heart does lurch and beat apace
Sweet lord should ever you fall ill
I’ll find a cure, produce a pill
Or simply give my life for yours
Time flies by and setting sun
Proclaims that this fair day is done.
And as the moon begins to rise
Once more I gaze into your eyes
The light reflected in my tears.

I really liked this work, a really good flow with poignant verse endings. Nicely done |
