What Friends Are For

Topic: FriendshipPoetry

Come tell me about it, the pain that you feel,
Together we can start to help you heal.
Another one has passed on by, has been and gone,
Told you all lies and strung you along.

Why do they do it? I just don’t know,
They knock you down, blow after blow.
I wish it was different, in my own life,
But I’m afraid like you, it’s filled with strife.

You tell me of all the things they have done and that they do,
That the least they ever gave you, was the most you ever knew.
I tell you that it might not always be this way,
That true love will come along, it has to, one day.

So you’ll stand up and try again, get back on that horse,
You plan to weather this storm and last the course.
I’m happy for you, that you’ve survived this trial by fire and ice,
Now if only I could listen to my own advice.
