End War

Contributed by angelus8663 on Thursday, 15th December 2011 @ 03:43:06 PM in AEST
Topic: war

So we are different, you and I,
It doesn’t mean, I’m not going to try.
You worship your god, I worship mine,
Gods of peace, purely divine.

It’s wrong to label, for the deeds of a few,
99% of you can’t stand what they do.
Faith is for healing; charity to the poor,
Religious differences should never mean war.

The people who die valiantly, in their countries proud name,
They want peace too, they’re not to blame.
The politicians have lied; they’ve made the wrong choice,
They’ve taken our votes and stolen our voice.

So together we stand, brothers in faith,
We are all members, of the great human race.
Put aside our differences, and together we vow,
Give peace a chance, end the war now.

As someone who's been there, amen. This ought to be shouted at every politician’s pep rally. I wrote a poem called Grant Park about the anti war rally in Chicago in 1968 that I'll post soon.
