Metered poetry can be fun to write,
When there’s nothing else to do at night.
Just like that raven who say’s “nevermore,”
It can leave you dreaming of a distant shore!
Metered poetry doesn’t have to rhyme,
If you are careful and just take your time!
Just think of what you want to say,
Then let pen and paper simply flow away.
Metered poetry is like a taxi cab,
The numbers clicking makes a driver glad.
If you boil it down to a place and time,
I think now and here, I prefer some rhyme.
Metered poetry and Dr. Seuss,
Who in the world let that crazy man loose?
But imagine a world had he never been,
We would have needed to go and invent him!
Metered poetry is what I choose to write,
Before I fall off to sleep each night.
Sometimes it is a hard thing to do,
As the sandman hits me with a gooey goo!
When the stuff hardens and my eyes seal shut,
You’ll hear my snoring when I’ve had enough!
Every other stanza started by saying metered.
This one ends by admitting I’m petered! Night!
