With sails set on the weather side
So that they slow the ship,
This situation that was caused by
Inattentive helmsmanship.
The ship now on a starboard tack,
On the stormy Baltic Sea.
A sail is set aback to maneuver the boat,
Circumstances change when one’s at sea!
“In a yawl rig, the mizzen is stepped abaft the sternpost.”
Meaning toward the stern to you and I.
But now the command “Three sheets to the wind,
Taken aback before we die!
“The captain has ordered us to abandon ship.”
“Oh crap I was heard to say,”
But my language was really much stronger,
Hey, I’m a sailor, what more can I say?
“When the light lies abeam, we will alter course
To 220 degrees. Stay on board and cancel the last,
Able-bodied seamen all ye are! Across the eye of
The wind in a new direction, the Abyssal plain is past!
Now Gilligan said to the skipper,
“Skipper where are we now born?”
The Skipper replied to Gilligan,
“Three hours from that yonder shore!”
