Christmas Reflection

Christmas Reflection

Now is the time for celebration,
But more than that since expectation
Of the New Year causes one to pause.
Reflect and list the things that Santa Claus
Can never right or bring to ones deficiencies in life.
It is the opportunity to venture out
Where all the children gather, scream and shout,
Run about like crazed loons around the town.
So finally it greets you there, you stand and stare
But breathing deep you take the leap and enter there,
The place of worship from your childhood past.
It has been a year and muddy waters have passed been the bridge
Of memory. Kneeling in supplication you gaze up at the vast
Stained glass depictions of charity and sacrifice;
Of twelve disciples and Our Lord Jesus Christ whose price
Of life makes ones own troubles pale into insignificance.
Perhaps one might shed tears for fears
Of stopping the advancing years
And bringing about some cataclysmic change in ones life.
The choir, resplendent in robes of sanctity
Lift up their voices in exhortation, ululation
For God’s intervention in life and contrition
For ones lack of Christian practices in His eyes.
I know like many that I have erred and so I’ll pray
And beg forgiveness, plead for repentance today.
But more: This time invokes in me humility,
Great feelings of goodwill to all and amity
For my fellow man. No matter how bad your lot
Forget not the others in your life and do not
Once punish yourself for the past but rather
Let us all, for once just think about tomorrow.

Merry Christmas to you, Al. There's a plethora of reasons why I love Christmas. Number one reason is it's a birthday of Love. A baby in a manger. For God so loved the world ... Are we gonna let God down by hating, warring, dominating 'n' conquering the spirit of Love? God help us in the new year to ensure a new age of reason on this earth where Peace and Goodwill prevail. Ya covered a bunch of this in some good 'n' effective metaphors for inspiration. God bless ya with strength to keep writin' 'n' bein' the change ya wanna see in this world.
