Look But Toucheth Not!
Today I am compelled to know
Who is this maiden, fair and so
Beauteous who comes to me as friend
And yet I know her not. No matter
For she comes in peace and with harmony
I bet, in mind a certain destiny
To gather round her strong and true
Friends of many faiths and different hue.
I bid her thank you and welcome.
‘Tis not enough for me, indeed
The blood does flow to distant
Parts of me that in an instant
Could, if scrutiny was employed
Cause her to be justly fair annoyed.
What of it then? I ask, do I falter
Or do I chase her down and to the altar
Bring? What is this? Sweet malady,
I see the ring, O what cursed perfidy!
And now what’s this? O Heaven’s woe!
I beg you picture this sad scenario
As he arrives, tall of height and lusty too,
Bears down upon the prize and in a trice,
Locks arms and with her lips held like a vice
Plants there a steamy kiss, for shame!
He does not stop instead he goes again!
I know not where to look. My eyes do I close
For she is his but yet in time who knows.
