The Never Mentioned Room

Contributed by AndyRaw on Sunday, 11th December 2011 @ 10:49:20 AM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

There is a room that causes a man not to be free
A room that he does not want you to see
The doors are marked by red tape
For its inhabitants want to escape

The few that enter see that it is old
Once inside, you get the distinct smell of mold
Dust has been collecting for many a year
This room brings you a strong sense of fear
For the number of cobwebs in this place is unknown
And the monsters in the corner mean you are not alone
The scratches on the door reveal many escape attempts
If released their vile will leave none exempt
There are no windows to bring you fresh air
You see that this room has been neglected of care
The stains on the floor and the walls prove exactly this
You sense that you are not too far away from a dark abyss

The knowledge that he can't control this room scares the owner the most
For he has no cleaning technique of his own to boast
His inability he knows all too well
And in his insufficiencies he must always dwell
It is a constant battle to keep these things from breaking through the doors
And it is frustrating because everything in this room the owner abhors
If any saw the contents of this room they would feel intense disgust
They would think that his allowance to live is nothing short of unjust
The owner would not disagree with this accusation
For he knows he deserves nothing less than damnation

If only he could figure out a way to change this room
For it will need more than the sweeping of a broom
He has never come across an earthly answer
And this uncleanliness threatens to spread like a cancer
It is only a matter of time before the infection is spread
The thought of this weighs him down with dread
His search continues for a lock that will hold
But he is yet to find a place where they are sold
The owner is desperate for a solution to be seen
Because in the end, all he wants is to be clean

sends a shiver down my spine. A dark and dangerous place for a poem.
