Season of Rhyme

One year later, and it's Christmas time;
Seems always to be the season of rhyme.
I promise this will be a happy song,
Now that I can see what I wanted all along.
Freedom is in sight-
Not from chains, from pain, from loneliness,
Not even from longing for True Love's Kiss.
No, something much more important than all of that:
This is the freedoms from the fear that was holding me back.
The knowledge that I am loved
And that I AM strong enough
Is finally beginning to sink in.
So I sit, poised with my pen-
Ready to face the father of the fear.
Not with anger, but with love I will greet him
Because the father of my pain led me to them.
Thank you for those who showed me what it means to love,
And who told me time and time again that I am good enough.
Thank you for the ones who rescued me
And taught me to be part of a family.
