Sight Unseen

I gazed toward the horizon
the sight was now unseen.
I remembered sky so blue
and grasses tall and green.
My vision now is clouded
with tears that fill my eyes.
Saddened that its memory
to tell me of the skies.
I smell the rain that's coming,
so guess the clouds are gray.
I took for granted keen eye sight
I had just yesterday.
Losing eyesight once so sharp
never one of my fears.
Now it's dimming oh so fast
but I still have my ears.
I hear the ocean roll to shore
I smell the salty air.
Imagination is my sight
it keeps me from despair.
Smiling now, in spite of things
there is one saving grace.
I look into the mirror
but cannot see my face.

I am so very sorry you are experiencing
what I am also going through at this point
in my life. I have maybe weeks or months
of vision left before total darkness comes.
I sympathize and also see your writing
style is close to mine. Are we twins split
at birth? Great write!
Blessings,
Robert Edgar Burns
