Just A Breath Away

Just A Breath Away

Upon a moment a wind whistles through
And a vision of us in the morning frost
Stirs in me the rawness of our separation.
Do I hear your breath and can I feel it close
And warm upon my face now cold, morose
Yet even now begins to warm with memory.
Thoughts now, my love, of us inseparable
In the snow, embracing in incomparable
Delight, your breath rhythmic upon my neck.
You are in life no more, yet I hesitate,
For I believe in death there is a chance
That a breeze may be nought but a message,
Ghostly left to me and to my life enhance.
Inhaling soft the only sound my suspiration
Is marked against the silent precipitation
That falls in the winter wonderland setting.
Tendrils of cloudy breath leave my mouth,
Swirling up and round about, a ghostly
Shape that takes your form then just as rapidly
Dissipates between my outstretched fingertips.
For just a second I held you once again,
Close but not touching, vivid yet not real.

I have read your poem three times, and I reckon it's amazing. I have just taken up poetry writing myself, and your poem gave me inspiration to write my first one, "Winter Words".

Thank you and congratulations!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
