In An Empty Kingdom

Contributed by ever1der on Tuesday, 6th December 2011 @ 03:10:25 AM in AEST
Topic: ambiguous

Once there was a kingdom
where roses loved to grow.
The kingdom now sits empty
Where did the monarch go?
His roses go untended
daisies are wilting too.
I being but a servant
know not what to do.

Once grapes grew in his vineyard
they were lush and filled with juice.
Now they've all but died away
their branches hanging loose.
We feasted on them daily
and drank from their sweet wine.
Now, not fit for raisins
they dry upon the vine.

A call goes forth from villagers
to the monarch absentee.
Please return, refresh us
is their humble plea.
Come back and tend the roses
give us more sweet wine ...
Rose King you are away too long
Come back; the plea is mine

'In An Empty Kingdom' is a fabulous fabulous poem. I very much enjoyed reading it. It is easy-to read, and it is full of lovely imagery. This sweet fantasy is a winner. --FH

such pictures painted, literal or metaphor, turn in to captures of "poems, prayers, promises" ... 'n' pleas.
It's a gift of the soul communicatin' in poetry. Ya do real fine here. Good to be back on YPDC readin' 'n' sharin' poetry with some poets I admire. As I remember, yer one of 'em. Didn't let me down with this one. Fun read.
