THE COCKER SPANIEL

Contributed by robert_edgar_burns on Tuesday, 6th December 2011 @ 01:59:02 AM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

The little brown Cocker Spaniel
Looking much like his daddy Mike,
Was sitting by a great big tree,
Watching a little boy hike!

With his little bow legs,
And his short stubby nose,
Sitting near the lake
Where the green grass grows.

He looked so much like Mike,
Cause his hair was brown and wavy.
And the sorrowful look in his eyes,
Was far away and hazy.

One day Mike got distemper,
And the blue but cloudy sky,
Must have told my dog something,
For he knew he was going to die!

My mother Bobbie Ann wrote these verses
As an eight year old little girl.
She now shares her home in Heaven,
With Mike watching over this world!

I love the way you spin a great yarn in verse!
Really well done my friend.

I like this a lot. Your use of rhyme to tell a story is well done. We had a black cocker spaniel ... sadly he passed on at the age of 18. A nice long life for a dog. He was great except for the constant grooming that was needed ... tough job sometimes. Still, we loved him and miss him. Your write was a nice reminder.
