Saying goodbye

Today I had to say goodbye
to my favorite
little guy
why him
i asked to the air
plain and simple
it just was not fair
I went to him
with a smile
but all the while
I am screaming inside
feelings I knew I had to hide
Sitting beside him
in his drug induced state
I thought to myself
I was too late
The time had come for me
to say goodbye
oh boy
it was so hard to not cry
I gave him a hug
and a kiss on his head
this was the part
I really did dread
walking out the door
knowing I would not see him
anymore
two days had passed
and I got the news
he had passed in the night
with his wings he took flight
His pain had finally
come to an end
at last he was free
his body on the mend
I am glad I got to say goodbye
and when the time came
I finally did cry

The older I get, the more I have to say
goodbye to those people who impacted
my live whether for the better or not, it
still drives home this point that I put my
faith and trust in: "Weeping may endure
for the night, but JOY cometh in the
morning!" (The Bible) Beautiful write
though sad.
