The Ring Of Treachery

The Ring Of Treachery

My life where treachery and perfidy abound
Is wracked and savaged since I found
The unholy evidence one did not seek
But which has left me lost and weak
How could you bring about this malady?

It is said pride comes before the fall
Yet I have been good and kind to all
I try and try but search in vain
A cause for you to cause me pain
I am lost and now may never be found.

Who is this man who would give you this
And did you smile and with lips did kiss?
The tears come now and the fury deep
Within me wells and my heart does leap
As I hear you now, returned from him.

Slowly I turn the ring between my fingers
The pain and hurt now raw still lingers
I look at you though I find it painful
As you stare right back so sad and shameful
What did you expect this desolate day?

Standing tall I turn and take my key
That locked me once but now set free
I kiss you gently then turn to go
And with faltering steps so short and slow
I exit the saddest chapter of my life.
