Breakout

Contributed by rick2 on Saturday, 19th November 2011 @ 06:32:20 PM in AEST
Topic: anguished

Break the spell that binds me
to a love once true;
a love gone cold in one heart
that burns another through.
Take from me the memories shaped
while passion ruled my soul
Take from me the visions
of the one who kept me whole.

Free me from a world that haunts
in daylight and in sleep,
as I have freed the heart promissed me,
mine to keep.
Heal the hurt that claimed the place
where happiness had been;
the happiness that formed the man
that I was back when.

And though the pain's made less sharp
by time's great healing hands;
still looms a dreadful presence;
ever over me it stands.
And thus with whispering shadows,
the path of life I share,
searching for a day the long hours I can bear.

Should that day n'er come,
when my heart, anew, is light,
into the next dimension
I'll continue in the fight.
I'll not succumb to devil's whim,
nor snuff the flame within;
Rather, I'll roam until I find that I can give
and feel love again.

Dear Rick2
My how I could feel what you were feeling.
So much it left me reeling.
I'm so sorry that had to happen to you, but you will be stronger for it, and yes, you will love again............and, again!
My wish for you!
Beautfully written, organized, and with deep feeling. Remember Rick2, that's what it's all about, are your feelings, and you!
Some of the better poems I've ever written
were penned from a broken heart, and I notice you do too!
Warm love
consue

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
