war

Where now can Mankind hide,
With their weapons and words?
"Under the wreckage of destroyed Nations",
Whispers the wind; for that is all that's left.
Warm homes turned to freezing, falling shelters.
The 'Automobile': burned to the shell of it's birth,
As black as the hour the bombs fell.
In that hour the leaves went from Green to Yellow to
Ashen mess, destined to be forgotten in the wicked wind.
'War takes all sorts', you said this once....
The weeds grew from death. A garden, once awash with
Tulip and Rose, now ruled by harsh vine and viper briar.
This garden was ours. But in a cold midnight everything changed,
And the pale moon laughed and laughed. War took hold and gripped like
A talon grips prey and ended that fever dreamt nightmare: 'Peace'. You sang....
War is horror and never ending,
To death, us men, its forever sending.
Man is not kind....
Even now, after war, I write in red.
