Still Undefeated

Contributed by Blackheart on Monday, 14th November 2011 @ 06:35:40 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

No answers but countless questions
Countless tests but no lessons
Constant prayer but still pending the blessing
No relief but constant stressing
I still keep the faith despite the dark magic
Reminisce my moments of triumph whenever I go through the tragic
In my life that's how everyday happens
That's how all my life experiences have been

A little sun but a lot of rain
But here's the thing, I like rain
Rain symbolizes that I'm hurting
But it doesn't mean I like pain
Pain triggers rage
And violence emerges from rage
My rage is like a wild beast
It must be tamed and kept in a cage
And what keeps that wild beast from performing on stage
My conscience
My conscience is the reason I'm alive
Especially when I was 13 and attempted suicide
The era in my life of low self-esteem and no pride
Thinking things would be better if I just died
I'm ashamed of myself just thinking about it, I wanna hide
But instead I'm standing here with my head high
Here's why

I'm the youngest brother of five
And the only brother that did what my others brothers didn't do
Because they chose not to
I graduated high school
College is my next move
And Imma graduate that too just like my uncle Harold
I was born with nothing
But destined to become somthing
Determined to turn failures into achievements
And make mom and dad proud before I stop breathing
They both died when I was 3
And for 15 years they've watched this pawn slowly evolve into a king
How does he do it when he doesn't have everything
I'll tell you what I do have
A dollar and a dream

Still I stand
I may appear weakened
But I remain
Still undefeated

WOW. I loved that poem. That was the most inspirational poem I have ever read. So real and personal. Makes me want to print it out and read it over and over. I admire you for the things you've been through..and great job with the way you shared it
