Goodbye My Best Friend

Contributed by dvtpdw on Sunday, 13th November 2011 @ 09:45:50 AM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

I got a call today, one never expected
His words my soul and heart deflected

She fought her battle strong and fierce
Her death an arrow my heart it pierced

I wipe the falling tears as I cry
I can't help but ask God WHY

My best friend and pal for 32 years
She shared my joys, calmed my fears

Her family was her pride and joy
A husband and two grown boys

Her grandchildren, the apples of her eye
How hard I know it will be to say goodbye

Go dance with the angels on clouds of love
I know you'll be watching us from above

Your heart and love I will hold in my embrace
Until we both share in God's shining grace

Thank you for the love and friendship you gave
You taught me love, so now I'll be brave

I love you, Karen, my best friend
I know in my heart that this is not the end

I will hold your memory dear for all my days
Rest in peace and love, in God's arms always

'Goodbye My Best Friend' is a glorious tribute to your dearest friend. I almost feel that you didn't lose her in a way -- that's how strongly she remains in your heart and soul. My favorite line is the incredible: 'Go dance with the angels on clouds of love.' That is writing. And you still have that... --Flinthunter
