Here, where the mountains have broken to pieces,
And the hills are vicious, the
Winds insidious.
Here, where barrelling chests are heavy, men
Entirely sweaty, against muddy walls,
Panting and brotherly.
Here, where the ground can die in craters,
And limbs end terribly, painful,
And dismembered.
Here too, treasured, are boxes of trinkets,
Useless presents aplenty, but
Received so gratefully.
Stashed under cots, Silas' hoard,
Our gifts and our kisses, sent from abroad.
