Flag Draped Coffin

Contributed by dvtpdw on Friday, 11th November 2011 @ 12:04:44 PM in AEST
Topic: Patriotic

He stands tall, excited and proud
Watching the flags waving in the crowd
Off to fight the battle once again
Not knowing how this time it will end

He fought the enemy force head on
Bravely he stood, but the battle was done
He'll go back home, to his final rest
Knowing he fought side by side with the best

His family and friends gather to say goodbye
It's hard to grasp but they will try
This man they loved did all he could
To keep us free, he did as he should

His flag draped coffin stands so proud
His honor and sacrifice shouts so loud
The honor guard pauses, the flag to respect
They hold the corners, their pride to erect

Do you the story behind the 13 folds
Do you know the honor it holds
Each fold, true and formed, stands to show
All freedoms, truths, honor, our soldiers' glow

The flag is folded, handed to mother or wife
To represent his service, his honor, his life
To him and others who have given their all
Who keep us free, and don't let us fall
I say THANK YOU for all you have done
Through you, our freedom is won
