On Reflection
My brother lives within my head
He is neither living nor dead
But counsels me at every turn
His strength and courage I have to earn
Through abstinence to which I’m led
In the mirror he is just the same
Forever taking of my pain
The angst and hell I hurl his way
On each and every sober day
All one way traffic never blame
For I’m alive and he is not
I the sober one he the sot
I scream at him for all things bad
The worst times in my past I’ve had
I can live but he must rot
I’ve finished with him for today
I asked him why I had to pay
For all my drinking with my life
Since illness now does give me strife
He does not answer, will not say

Very interesting. Two sides of you...one suffering from the other. I like that perception |
