Hard Love
Wilted roses from last September
Pictures with faces cut out
A love song that plays over and over
Is this what heartaches about
A bed that’s not slept in
Too many memories of love made there
A carpet trail from nights of pacing
Following a love that went nowhere
Ashtrays full and over flowing
A bottle to deaden the pain
A burning sensation of loss
And tears go falling like rain
Cigarette burns between fingers
And dark rings under the eyes
It’s a slow and easy destruction
When a love like ours dies

Aww. I can relate. Thank you for posting this. And I wish you the best. You had what was I'm sure a beautiful and complicated relationship. When a forrest burns down...in 2 years it grows 2wice the size, bursts with life...because ash is such good fertilizer. |
