China in the cabinet.
Sterling silver in the drawer.
A most expensive painting,
Hanging high above the floor.
Stocks and jewels and savings,
Real estate and acres of land.
Shiny new fast conveyances
Neatly polished by mans’ hands.
The prestige of our schooling,
With diplomas and degrees.
Being prominent in our chosen fields,
And bloodline pedigrees.
Tears for us on mothers’ faces.
The touch of her tender hands.
The strong but gentle nudges
As fathers teach us how to plan.
The love of a virtuous woman,
The jewel of any mans’ crown.
Where strength, kindness, and dignity
With encouragement always abound.
To gaze into your newborns’ eyes,
On the moment of their birth.
Which set of these verses
Would you covet the most?
Your character’s told in your choosing.
If you chose one through three you are loosing.
A family will never need riches
If riches ARE the family!
