Lady Moon
I walked my dog tonight
In a fog, hanging low
and the moon, shining dimly.
I walk through the night
and the street lights shimmer
in their amber mist
The fog, the night, my dog and I,
we walk as one.
I breathe the warm, moist air
it passes through my lungs
and cleanses them from the
steel cold nights preceding us.
The mist begins to lift
and Lady Moon shimmers her greeting
swinging on her silver perch
over this Northern Michigan night.
This tranquility is rare
and my dog and I walk on,
Puddles of melted snow
ripple as we slowly stir their slumber
and this mild midwinter night
is truly a welcome gift.
We pass a Blue Spruce usually
wrapped in it’s winter coat
It reaches out and envelopes us
with it’s fragrant splendor
released from the warm mist.
As we turn into our drive
the remnants of snow greeting us
I wink at Lady Moon
and feel blessed
to have been a recipient of her favor.
