If you ever walked away
My world would fall apart.
My life would ebb away.
From a broken bleeding heart.
If the hope I have in you
Was shattered beyond repair,
I would find no joy in my life,
For I'd be in dark despair.
If you no longer needed me,
With me no longer share.
I still could never hate you.
As know how much I care.
If I ever heard you say,
“Goodbye forevermore!”
Then sail away on another wave
To a distant foreign shore,
My lungs would no longer function.
And my heart would cease to beat.
I would take just one more step,
And drop dead at your feet.
I pray this never happens.
From above you’ve been my gift.
Sometimes my mind will wander
As I contemplate what “IF!”
