I follow the stairs that lift from the ground
To where I was told my wisdom lies
My footsteps make a lonely sound
What my face bravely denies
I'm going, but not going up
Like walking an escalator in reverse
I don't know what is waiting at the top
But I'm sure it cannot be adverse
With an effort I reach the top of the stairs
But there's no wisdom to make me see
I walked this way unawares
And this way wasn't meant for me
After all I came to the wrong place
Despite high hopes and humps so tall
But as I see my aim I stop chasing
And maybe this is wisdom after all.

Something that really stands out in this poem for me are the lines:
I'm going, but not going up
Like walking an escalator in reverse.
That to me just captures frustration perfectly.
I liked the way you made everything flow.

I really like this piece...chasing what we believe is our destiny only to find that we are seeking the wrong answers in the wrong places...our determination sets a course and sometimes it's difficult to alter that path...excellent work
