Walk Softly

Grief

Even in the cold and rain,
she was sure there was a
warm blanket wrapped around her shoulders.
She inhaled and the smell she
had never forgotten
filled her nostrills as
tiny drops of love rolled down her cheeks.
A flash of lightning reveals
that which causes her so much pain -
a piece of beautifully plain rock:
WALK SOFTLY;
MY LOVE
AWAITS ME HERE
