Liar!

Contributed by Banda5k1 on Monday, 24th October 2011 @ 05:04:05 AM in AEST
Topic: ApologyPoetry

Please sit down, I have something I need to tell you
All this time, nothing that I've said was true
My father didn't beat me, my mother wasn't a drinker
And everything else too
I’m sorry
It just started with one lie and before I knew it one became ten
and then after a while I forgot what was real and what wasn't, I just kept it all inside
hurting me
And with each of your sympathetic hugs it hurt even more
but I was just too greedy, and it felt too good
to finally have someone listen, someone who cares
And the more you held me the more I fell in love with you
But I knew that it could never be as long as I told you
The lies which grew and grew
And ate the last of my humanity as my sanity slowly slipped through my hands

I'm telling you this because I love you,
I just need you to believe me
All the pain inside is amplified by the pain you are feeling now.
But all of that doesn't matter as long as we can be together, just you and me
Babe please, I promise no more lies
I’m down on my knees and I promise no more lies

We can make it work, I already know you all we need is for you to get to know me
The real me
My name is Steve, I work at Home Depot
My parents are both good to me and my sister
Oh that’s another thing, I have a sister
Her name is Cindy and I guess she’s pretty nice too, but I don’t talk to her very often.
Well that’s a start at least, we’ve got a long way to go
And I know that if you really are the girl whom I knew you as
Then I know we can get through this.

Wow. If this is truly a poem dedicated to somebody, all I have to say is that I can't believe things could possibly ever get to that point. It just doesn't sound like human nature. I'm glad to see a change of heart, but something that strong is so heavy, that it sounds far harder than you hope it to be to lift it off your back, and to not accidentally drop it on her instead.

Yeah it was just a fabrication of my crazy imagination, so no need to worry. :) Hope you liked it!

This is very, very good. I like how the poem builds as you see the lies build and then breaks back down as you tell the truth. Good job n.n
