Open Door

Open Door

Most everyone
is secretly searchin'
for
some kind of answer;
We got our eyes
glued to an open door,
but out shoes
they're nailed
to a hardwood floor...

With wistful eyes
we gaze
at cerulean blue
promising skies
Framed
by that open door,
while our shoes
are nailed to the hardwood floor...

[music:]

All we gotta do
is quietly slip
out'a these shoes
and step
Right on through
that open door,
and leave these shoes behind;
leave 'em nailed
to the hardwood floor...

But we've worn
these shoes forever;
since we were born
these shoes 'ben our tether,
Keepin' us
this side of the door;
our spirits nailed
to the hardwood floor...

[music:]

I can't take this no more;
was never meant to live
this side of the door;
Gonna' weight anchor,
raise the main, set the jib,
and sail right on through
that open door!

The symbolism used in this poem is unique. Indeed, we all are eyeing that open door...it just takes an awful lot of courage to get up, remove the shoes, and walk out that door.
Fantastic write.
Peace
Ammar
