Poetry is lines on a page,
you don't care what they say,
emotions unexpressed due to self rightousness
this pent up frustration, a big part of our nation
sometimes it hurts and sometimes it stings,
and you can't distinguish between reality and dreams
you may feel tricked you may feel cheated,
you've written your life's book and you don't want to read it
how'd you get here, there, where … are you,
the choices you've made, the cards that you've played
how did it happen, a downhill spiral that started so suddenly
and you gained momentum until the end … here … the bottom
although now … there's only one direction left to go in … up
God lead me, God take me … and make me … into what you want me to be
let me see … your vision for me

'Spiral' is a fine first poem. In order to develop your own style, you have to practice writing -- and see what -- in this poem -- defines YOU. If you can take that and use it and refine it as you go along, not only will you find YOU (in poetry), but you'll be closer to whatever 'tis God's vision of thee. Great start. Altho' you might not see it, seems this spiral is spiraling upward, what? -- FlintHunter
