Daddy Loves Her...

Contributed by Mikki on Thursday, 20th October 2011 @ 10:02:08 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Daddy used to smile at me, but now he likes to cry
Daddy used to tell the truth, now he asks me to lie.

Daddy used to laugh a lot, but now he likes to weep
Daddy used to love, but now he fights when I'm asleep.

Daddy used to want me, now I'm used as his disguise
Daddy used to hug me, now I cover up his lies.

Daddy likes to hit her, though, he pushes her around
Daddy likes to laugh and smile when Mommy crashes down.

Daddy says he loves her, and my Mommy says it back
When Daddy leaves, my Mommy cradles her head in her hands.

Her back has lots of bruises, and her legs have lots of scars
I like to give her hugs when it seems like her life is hard.

Today I found her lying there, inside my Daddy's arms
He looked at her and smiled, then looked into the fading stars.

He looked me in the eyes and told me "Baby, don't forget...
"I love you to the moon and back.. it isn't over yet."

I didn't want to say it, but I knew the evil truth
He didn't love me either, he had planned to scar my youth.

I walked over to Mommy and I grabbed the bloody knife
The one that Daddy stabbed her with, the one that took her life.

I sunk the knife inside his skin and watched him as he bled
I thought about the look he gave when those last words were said.

I played them in my head again, then smiled at him and said...
"I love you to the moon and back… the way I always did."

My oh my. To date you've posted 4 poems.
Each one is darker than the last! Don't get
me wrong. You have a true gift in rhyme
and could have a bright future using your
gift to pull people into your own thoughts!
How about thinking of something you know
of that has been a positive event in your life!
Give that a go occasionally to brighten your
outlook! At least sprinkle a few of those in
between the rest for your new fans, and yes
I have definitely become one of them.
Blessings,
Robert Edgar Burns
