Am I Perfect Now...?

Contributed by Mikki on Wednesday, 19th October 2011 @ 09:17:54 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Mommy keeps a knife inside her pocket through the day...
Whenever I do something wrong, she cuts the bad away.

Every day, she finds some sort of sin that I have made
Then helps me be forgiven as my skin is kissed with blades.

Sometimes Mommy tells me I'm a terrible disease...
She slices through my skin until I'm crying on my knees.

Mommy’s never satisfied, but I’ll improve her life
I’ll go into my bedroom, and I’ll bring the perfect knife.

I’ll cut away the sorrow and I’ll cut away the lies
I’ll cut away the worry and I’ll cut away the cries.

I’ll cut away the loneliness, I’ll cut away the pain
I’ll cut away the hatred and I’ll cut away the shame.

I’ll cut away the nightmares and I’ll cut away the fears
I’ll cut away the torture that leaves Mommy in her tears.

Mommy, watch me listen, Mommy, watch me make you smile
Watch me make you show a grin that stretches out for miles.

Mommy, watch me bleed, oh Mommy, watch me as I drown
Watch me as I suffer…
Mommy, am I perfect now?

A terrible amount of pain to express so clearly.
As a woman that is 74 years of age and been through much of the same, I have learned through inner strength that we must be perfect only to ourselves. Find beauty in the smallest thing and allow it to grow until that which is ugly fades. Thanks for reading my poem and glad you smiled! A smile is the beginning.... let it spread. Perhaps your poem wasn't about you personally, I pray not. E-mail me sometime and I pray your day is somewhat brighter.

Welcome to YPDC.
Great writing but it's sad.
I never could grasp the meaning of cutting but you
have opened my eyes with this powerful write.
Blessings, healing,

Might I just tell you that I think you have
been blessed with an incredible amount of
talent. You pull people inside to know your
suffering! Now, let's find a way to help you
find "Joy!" If there is an abuser in your life,
they need to be reported. Then, reach out
to the Lord and find strength to forgive!
Once you've done that, then true healing
can begin in your life.
Blessings,
Robert Edgar Burns (Rob)

I've read the other comments 'n' ditto agree with all of them. I think we were captured by a writer with such insightful, magnificent talent that we are perplexed 'n' concerned about the reality 'n' whose reality you write about. If it's happenin' = don't let it. Excuse us if we're jumpin' to conclusions.
