WHEN I AM GONE

Contributed by robert_edgar_burns on Wednesday, 19th October 2011 @ 08:52:16 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

What will they say when I am gone?
Have I made a difference to anyone?
Did I bring some joy or only strife?
Was I just a wasted most pitiful life?

How shall I be thought of when I’m gone?
If my name is mentioned, will it be ho-hum?
Will my epitaph come from someone else,
Or should I quickly write it all myself?

For if it is left up to me,
It won’t get written at all you see.
I am like a stump that is ground down.
From a rotten tree or forgotten clown.

I many times tried to slip away,
In immeasurable pain, I decide to stay.
My friends come by every now and then,
But I turn around and they’re gone again.

Most family never comes my way,
I am not in the loop and I’m there to stay!
Now when I’m gone there will be relief.
But there will be no sighs, there will be no grief!

Yes I made no difference in anyone’s life.
And I did cause more than my share of strife!
When I am gone what will they say?
It will be no different than it is today!
