Torn
I’m stained, battered and frayed
So full of dismay
But ugliest of all I am torn.
I’ve wept, begged and prayed
For some hope to be saved
The reality is that you’re gone.
You’re so vibrant and bright
You keep yourself satisfied
With the smaller things in this life.
But I am so tired
Of the you I admired,
I realise I forgot myself.
I am fortunate, really
To have someone sincerely
Care for my every whim
That I forget she is near me
And when I see clearly
I don’t know that you even exist.
I am so torn
That I can’t see the harm.
I’m so sorry for all my mistakes.
I’m a liar, deceiver,
A self-indulged pleaser.
My pocket’s too low for the stakes.
