Tendencies
To know your thorns would be a greater delight
Than ignorance of crimson light.
In the shadows where I daren’t conspire
Or dream of using breath nor fire
To warm my flower, lest I blaze
The opportunity of this God-sent phase.
For innocence is pure and sage.
I would not pick what hasn’t aged.
But opportunity I dare not miss
To venture once again to bliss.
Not to corrupt but live the dream
Of a thorn to prove that I would bleed.
