My Would Be Darlin'

Contributed by impliedlove on Wednesday, 30th April 2003 @ 03:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DreamsandWishes

If I were her lover
and she let me in
we could uncover
the beauty of "sin"
It's almost like Eve
and her forbidden fruit
only it's you and me
and we didn't choose
God made us
the way we are
to live; to love
to follow our heart

If I were her lover
we wouldn't hide
We'd tell her mother
and boast our pride
Her brother would shun her
Her father'd disown
As for her sister
she'd manage both
Distant family members
would not be concerned
They'd dub her a stranger
this is what I have learned

But if I were her lover
and she let me in
the world could be lighter
and she'd smile again
