I Watch As You Sleep

I Watch As You Sleep

I watch in time delay
The beauteous unfurling of the flower
The slow motion droplets
Of the late evening shower

The sun prepares to sleep
And is replaced by the moon
High in the night sky
The stars are all strewn

I look at you now love
Asleep on the bed
I marvel at life
And how I’ve been blessed

Your bright eyes are closed now
Like the sun that has set
From the shower your hair shimmers
Like the stars when it’s wet

Your breathing is soft dear
Like a soft zephyr wind
And your body so soft
Under which I am pinned

Entwined in your arms
I thank God you are with me
You’re the reason I live now
So happy and free

As the beauty of nature
There is nothing more sure
Than the absence of anyone
So gentle more cherished so pure
