WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN

In my mind we would be lovers
Though I knew not what that meant.
Naive in youth and knowledge
No experience had yet been spent.
But arising from my ignorance
My mind and body grew.
When my eyes were finally opened,
My dream girl was always you!
Now through the years as time enlarged
The gulf between our paths,
The memory of your heavenly smile
Is a treasure that would last.
Your laughter at my silly jokes
Left me wanting so much more.
It was then I knew what love was,
When you entered my heart’s door!
I often looked up toward the sky
Wondering if you were looking too.
And if our gazes ever crossed,
Could you feel me kissing you?
A lifetime has been spent by me
With memories of a girl,
Whose name brings smiles my darling,
As a treasured priceless pearl.
What might have been is a pointless thought,
For you never took my name.
But name or not I swear to you,
I’ve loved you just the same!

Hi, Anonymous,
Why there are no rhymes within 28 sentences, since you have made so many sentences, why there is no any rhymes in them? but i like :"When my eyes were finally opened,
My dream girl was always you!" it is good enough to express your are deeply thinking of the unforgettable guy!
Well done friend! Keep on write friend.
sfiawong.

Well now to your other comment gotta throw in my two cents free.
To all on this Planet>>>>>> No writing has ever moved me like Roberts writing does. That's a very hard thing to do. Heck I never even noticed it doesn't rhyme. Ask god about that part he created me.
Again Rob so good to have your words back home here at YPDC>>smiles,

sometimes we fonder what might have been if we love before is the one we're loving now and sometimes we have to let go of our past and have to lose someone dearly to you and find another that would love more than dearly and would cherish you for the rest of our lives.... nice and beautiul poetry
