She wishes that there was
just one thing in the world
that could make her happy.
‘Cuz everything she ever loved,
and all the things she never loved
could only make her cry.
She drudges through her wasted life
swinging there from one vine to the next.
No sooner than she lets one go,
the vine she has is starting to snap,
and everything is starting to snap.
She wishes that, just once, she could relax.
Her everything is temporary,
anything that’s temporary
has to go away and meet her past.
The tendrils made of marijuana
and the boys who say they wanna
love her forevermore are gone.
And as she searches for that something
out there that can make her happy,
everything around her head
is turning out to be just crappy
and her lovers hold her there
with promises they don’t intend to keep.
She weeps.
Her friends are lying through their teeth
when they all say that they’ll be there next week.
She weeps.
And she lies asleep in bed at night
dreaming of that silent night
when everything around her closes in.
And finally her life can begin.
And as she looks up at the ceiling,
she can’t help but fight the feeling
that her life of pain will never end,
and all she ever wanted was a friend.
All she ever wanted was a friend.
And finally she thinks she’s found a friend.
The end.
