I Hear You Calling
What now? I speak or am I just listening.
Damn this feeling, this wakefulness.
Am I speaking while I write? I do not know.
Madness, of a sort as I wrestle this muddiness
No clarity just fragmented thought
The drink is calling, perhaps I ought
Call for help, since into sobriety I’ve bought.
It’s easy, they say, but have they all tried it?
Damn this feeling, this hopelessness.
Is it all worth it, the struggle, constant battling.
To be part of the human race, such emptiness
I feel but yes it is best.
With these cravings I’ll wrest
And be better again, I affirm, I attest.
Is it night? I don’t know but am wide awake
Damn this feeling, this sleeplessness.
The cravings subside but that was a close one.
I write to fight them with candour and openness.
If I keep them at bay I think I just might
Earn the jacket, the ticket the God-given right
To tell all my peers, myself, that I have found the light.

Try to relax :p it helps to look for the beauty and not just the bad. Everyone has their demons, we just fight them differently. |
