What about Today?

Contributed by Katie101 on Monday, 3rd October 2011 @ 01:01:45 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

My heroes, my rolemodles, my elders and my mother,
My father, my leaders, my sisters and my brother,
Are failures, are disgraces, the sinners to such extent,
So they pray, they curse, they sin, then repent.
Their doing, their statements, their actions toward their brother,
Are ment for praise, for ruling, to inspire one an other,
But murder and transgression will foreverlinger through their being,
So how am I, the next generation, to portray what I am seeing?
My father gets high, and he will never come down,
My elder is selfish and ruling, just waiting for his crown,
My brother is angry, and ruthless, and lowers his own spirits,
My hero he's angry, so it's his girlfriend he hits.
Yet, I still admire every move they make,
And I continue to give them everything they could ever take,
And as I grow I watch myself becoming my every surrounding,
"Do as I say, not as I do." Do you know how rediculously you are sounding?
Hell is calling your name,
Your minds are adjusted to playing such a wicked game,
And though, I am quick to follow,
My soul has yet to become this hollow.
You are my mother, my father, my every being,
You are my hero, my leader, the influence I am seeing.
You are sin, transgression, everything you've said not to become,
You are repenting, dividing, everyday becoming less of one.
And if I could dream, I would dream of you,
To become who I am supposed to be, and what I am supposed to do.
I can draw smiles on you faces, but never can I make them,
You're turning into witches, you all belong in Salem.
What have we made for ourselves and who are we to be?
Wickedness, gluttony, and lust is the face of our humanity.
My soul is still young and I can still perplex,
But you, all that you desire is sin, money, and sex.
To think one day I will stand in your shoes,
And have just as much as you for me to lose,
Makes me wonder if I can break this stage,
To make a new beginning, a new ending, to turn this page.
Your tragedy, your theft, your lies and your sin,
Will ciest to exist with the mind state I am in.
Just know that you are the hope, the drive, the soul, the one,
For me to admire, to stive to be, for I am your son.
You are such lust, self admirence, and lies slip off your tounge,
If you think this is the worst, our world has just begun.

This was a very interesting write for me because of the human nature side involved and how role models have this moral duty that is bestowed on them and how even the clean can still be vulnerable over time...human nature will always be unpredictable and you capture that beautifully...this line has so much emotion it sets the tone

My father gets high, and he will never come down,
