Be Well Again

Be Well Again

The maelstrom of madness and misery that is depression has been lifted
By the therapist through my heart soul and mind he has sifted
The pain of recollection of memories mainly tragic has been a drain
But I feel the illness that coursed through my body flow away like poisoned rain

No more living a life that has been a constancy of Hell
Where I shook my fists at God I would scream I would yell
Where was the equity in life the parity or a scale
Against which I could be measured against a normal healthy male
And given a comparable existence in which I was well

On top of this all I was dependent on drink
Which cursed the ability to act or to think
My memory was clouded and in speech I just mumbled
And in action I was slow, I was childlike I was humbled
So down down down I continued to sink

God bless all of the strangers the medics who cared to act
And took a broken human being who with baggage was wracked
I never truly understood the cause or reason for my blight
But I’ve tried I have endeavoured with all of my might
And confronted the beasts of beasts with whom I did fight
To regain that purpose in life which sorely I lacked

So now I stand before you the Renaissance man
To advise all who suffer to fight for you can
Take hold of the angst all the shame and the pain
So like me you stand tall and are well once again

'Be Well Again' is an anthem. It is proud to be the testament to an act of bravery; for to face oneself -- and the enemy within -- is sometimes far more dreadful than to face the fiercest enemy without you. Fine writing about an important subject: especially good that it has a positive outcome and the promise -- or the guarantee -- of living a new life. Congratulations on your victory!
