If
If you only do one thing make it this, make it this
If you live for a second or one hundred millennia, please just listen to what I have to say
If you have no time or patience
If you’re self centred and selfish, please hold you’re me, me, me in for one second and listen to me
I can see you see me
But you don’t listen to my heart
You don’t actually see me at all
You never will unless you stop
If you just take my hand I will lead you to my sanctuary
If you want to be a listener
If you want to understand
You have to stop, look, listen
If you look at what I have to offer, you will find joy abound
If you look, you will see my heart, my soul, the real me
Trapped between the words
Explained in whimsical verse
If you have stopped
If you have looked
If you have listened
I have done my job
I have brought a smile to your face
If you don’t do the above
There is not a lot I can do
If I where a prophet
If I where a teacher
If I am a wise man
If you only stop, look, listen
I would be happy for life

If is a very cool poem -- but it a heart-breaker. I am not one to offer any advice -- but I can say that it is wise to stop, look, and listen to your own true feelings -- and then, if the really be true... Regardless, sir, you will find happiness. Sometimes you 'just have to wait' (the Supremes c. 1962?) -- it's too hard being young -- glad I'm not anymore -- but then again... No matter. IF is a beautiful vision of your heart -- and out of some painful stuff, still you give us a well-written and easy-to-read poem. Writing helps. So. Then. Writestoplooklisten, what? --flinthunter |
